The Campaign

There’s a moment in every musician’s life that changes everything; the first time they hear themselves on the radio. When creating the 90 year anniversary film for Radio Sweden, we invited some of the country’s most celebrated musicians to recreate this magical moment. The film opens in Stockholm’s Saint James's Church in 1925, the time and place for the very first radio transmission, and we hear the Swedish Radio Orchestra play a song that seems familiar to us. We’re then taken on a journey through time, from 1925 to today, and we see a series of famous artists experiencing their own personal moments; magical things start to happen as they hear their song on the radio for the first time. By the end of the film, a relatively unknown artist takes the stage in the Berwald Concert Hall to sing the final chorus of the song, which we now realise is an orchestral arrangement of the iconic pop anthem “Music Non Stop”. Those in the know might know that this young man, Elias, has been predicted to be tomorrow’s big star; a subtle hint to the next 90 years of music coming out of Sweden.

Creative Execution

Kent is Sweden’s biggest rock band and “Music Non Stop” is one of their most famous hits. Kent frontman Jocke Berg worked together with composer Peter Nordahl to create an orchestral version of the pop song. In the film we can see and hear Radio Sweden’s very own orchestra, Swedish Radio Orchestra, perform the song in the new version.
