The Campaign
To create that awareness, the German comedy and show
host duo Joko & Klaas were signed up. And to kick off with,
there was a parody of the well-known Mentos commercial featuring
German football internationals Kevin Großkreutz and Mats Hummels.
In the fake press conference that followed, an apology was made for
the accusation of plagiarism. Although much of what happened was
never properly cleared up, Joko & Klaas promised to only produce
genuine, family-friendly commercials for Die Limo in future.
The kick-off spectacle was followed by amusing commercials
parodying classic advertising clichés.
Reactions among the target group were positive across the board,
such that the video has so far reached just under eight million
views and Die Limo’s Twitter account has shown a 355% increase
in followers. This set the stage perfectly for the following
commercials whose new look made them stand out in the
commercial break."
