The Campaign
In our 2015 brand campaign for Volkswagen we showed VW drivers expecting as the same innovation in everyday objects as they knew from their Volkswagen. One object stood out in particular; a baby stroller that a mom expected to brake automatically. Timo Ros, one of VW’s Facebook fans, wondered why such a stroller didn’t exist. Timo is invited as ambassador of the 180,000 Facebook fans to the Volkswagen HQ to help build the next generation baby stroller with adaptive cruise control and automatic braking together with two Volkswagen engineers. VW engineers build and test the stroller in a typical crash test. Then a dad is sent out to test the stroller in real life, but to be sure he first checks out whether the stroller really works at home and on the street. He takes the stroller out for a run, goes to a bar and to the park with his friends. The film ends with Timo expressing his amazement that one comment on Facebook would have the power to lead to this: an automatic stroller. Finally, the stroller rocks the baby to sleep with the help of a swing in the park.
