The Campaign
This is a true story about the celebration that fans bring to their favourite athlete. Alex, a die-hard Manchester City fan, tells us about how he came up with the idea to make a song for his favourite athlete: Vincent Kompany, the Manchester City captain. He changed the lyrics of the Simon and Garfunkel song “Here’s to you misses Robinson, Jezus loves you more than you may know” into “Here’s to you Vincent Kompany, City loves you more than you may know”. In the TVC, the fan explains how he started to sing the song in the stadium for the very first time, how it got picked up by the other fans, soon ran throughout the whole stadium and even became a song that City fans still sing now. The story not only captures the side of the fan, it also shows Vincent Kompany's reaction and how big the impact of the song is on his performance on the field. The story combines images that were shot recently, together with consumer generated content and images from sports archives to clearly state that this story is based on a true story.
