The Campaign

Routine morning of the regular Ukrainian family, enjoying their comfort in cozy and established home, takes a dramatic turn. While doing morning chores in a bathroom, a mother is suddenly disturbed by a vision of her other self in the bathroom mirror. Seemingly as puzzled as she is, her reflection stands in emptied, ready to be forsaken bathroom. She is weary, stressed out and dressed for the long road. The camera shifts from one side of the mirror to the other, making the sinister reflection a reality, and the cozy sunlit bathroom – a reflection instead. In a voiceless emotional exchange of glances both women come to the verge of the breakdown, when sudden thunder strike and family members, packed to evacuate for good, make the weary mother snap out of it, take the remaining toothbrushes and run away, leaving her alter-ego on the peaceful side of the mirror speechless and grief-stricken with this dark foreshadowing.
