The Campaign

We're on tree-lined road running through a housing estate. It's dark, late. There's no one at the bus stop. A car disappears into the distance. Silence. The camera waits. Then from out of the roadside hedge comes something mysterious and unexpected. A small deer. Followed by another. Tentatively, they cross the road. We cut to a small green on the estate. There, more deer are gathered. Twenty, thirty. They eat the grass and amble confidently about as if they are the estate's residents, not the people tucked up behind the darkened windows of the houses. There is no music on the soundtrack. The camerawork and sound effects are utterly naturalistic. A secret world that only comes out at night has been revealed. At one stage we see a fox relieve itself against a lamppost as a stag crosses its path and a cat runs at full speed towards camera. The deer move on. We see three stags, haughty and magnificent, on a zebra crossing. A title appears; 'Come and See'. We hear a car approaching. By now the deer have disappeared back to wherever it is they came from. The Canon logo appears on screen.
