Brief Explanation

David Hasselhoff is a one of a kind and one of a kind means last of a kind. So before he is permanently extinct something needed to be done. A campaign where we encourage the Norwegian viewer to watch Hoff the Record in order to save the Hoff from disappearing forever.

The Campaign

In October 2015, BBC launched the campaign to announce Hoff The Record in Norway. A comedy series where Baywatch star, David Hasslelhoff moves to the UK to get his career back on track. After all… he used to have 1.1 billion viewers. But where did they go? So before he's permanently extinct, something needed to be done. With a first wave on tv the campaign, that was supported by outdoors we called on the Norwegian people to save the Hoff, by watching his new show. On social media, people that were once "saved" by the Hoff, showed their support and encouraged the audience to do the same. The support of banners, gave the extra digital push to raise awareness around the new show. Even a charity run to 'Save the Hoff' took place in the streets of Oslo. A slow-mo run off course.

Creative Execution

The campaign started of with the launch of our main 45-second ad, both on social & TV. This ad was supported by another series of 10-second indents, each time focussing on another animal (Whale, Wolf, Polar Bear). Together with TVC-ads, online video, three outdoor executions filled the streets of Norway, showing the Hoff in the habitat of each of our three protagonists, again focussing on the fact that he is truly the last of its kind. On social media, people that were once "saved" by the Hoff, showed their support and encouraged the audience to do the same, and finally a charity run was organized the day of the launch again encouraging people to save The Hoff. A slow-mo charity run, that is.

The show starts the 2nd of November, so results about the exact numbers of viewers are not yet know prior to subscription. The online launch of our film reached 182k views the first day, and was received well by Norwegian audience.
