Brief Explanation
A Stroke can happen to any one, at any time and at any place. The faster a stroke-victim gets help, the better the chance of survival. In a far stretched country as Norway, the quickest way to get help is the Norwegian Air Ambulance (NAA). The NAA is an organization funded by its members. So the more members that join the organization, the better help can be offered to stroke patients in Norway. “A stroke can happen at any time. Even in the middle of a commercial break.” We introduced a stroke in well-known and loved TV-commercials for other brands.
Results and Effectiveness
The series of stroke version-commercials turned out to be a win-win situation: Brands got positive PR by supporting an important cause, and the NAA were able to run TV-commercials. Proving that a stroke can happen at any time in a surprising way, the idea generated a landslide of new members for the NAA.
Creative Execution
The campaign is based on giving well-known commercial for other brands a surprising twist. All three we got to play around with, had all aired heavily on TV so that the audience were familiar with them. In our versions of the commercials, the actors, sound guy and camera-man respectively suffered from a sudden stroke, bringing the production to an abrupt halt as crew members rushed to help.
Insights, Strategy and the Idea
Given that brain stroke is among the top killers in Norway, the message was relevant to all Norwegian grown ups. As a stroke hits its victims by surprise, we wanted to reflect the nature of the disease in a similar way, by introducing strokes in well-known TV-commercials for other brands.
