Creative Execution

The application required development of a complex chart that translates color vibrations into sounds. The main challenge was to make the users' experience as intuitive and natural as possible - so that, for example, similar colors sound similarly or that deep and cold colors sound completely differently then bright and vibrant ones. Also, it was very important to make the whole experience pleasant to the sense of hearing, which was achieved with meticulous programming process and by introducing two musical instruments (guitar and piano) a user can choose between.

The application is free and available to all. Currently, it is being adopted for other platforms and versions for IOS system will soon be released. It is being officially tested and implemented by the Union of the Blind of Serbia and special schools for blind children in Serbia.

Sonochrome application enables the blind people to experience colors as sounds. We asked ourselves - how to enable a person who has never seen "yellow", or "red", or any other color to have a subjective experience of colors? That is how the idea emerged. With use, the application develops synesthesia, a phenomenon in which stimulation of one sense is experienced in another. We wanted to enrich and extend the experience of the world of the blind people.
