The Brief
Open people’s eyes to airport shopping. How do we reach people who already spent hours packing the perfect bag? And how can we reach people outside the airports?
Campaign Success
We built the world’s first connected weather simulator, where travelers could experience their destination live before even boarding the plane.
Three chambers were hooked up to online weather services, and translated the data into our physical world. Each chamber had everything from wind and sun simulations to huge screens playing different films depending on the climate at the destination.
Describe the success of the promotion with both client and consumer including some quantifiable results
The Climate Portal was a colossal hit. Reporters from across the world came to do stories on it, giving the portal a total potential reach of close to to one billion people and an estimated ad value of 150 times the investment.
But what mattered most was the 225 000 people who used it to check if they actually had packed the perfect bag.
Explain why the method of promotion was most relevant to the product or service
In dialogue with the passengers at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, we realized early that this idea could solve a way to communicate the wide range of shopping at the airport and connect offers based on the weather at the destination.
