The Campaign
The State Parliament extends its services for visitors: A new Visitor Centre is integrated in the parliament’s building, which can be flexibly used for events, presentations with individual projections and for self-discovery visits. In addition to the guided tours during the week, it is also accessible on the weekends. On 120 square metres the visitors get an immersive insight into politics. The exhibition counteracts the disenchantment with politics and involves a wide audience, especially young people and families, by providing information in a playful and interactive way.
Creative Execution
The visitor centre is equipped with a 240-degree screen, a sophisticated 3-D sound system and eight interactive media stations, which can be retracted in order to make space for events. The ten minutes panorama film immerses the visitors into the world of the delegates and the everyday life in NRW, which is presented in an informative, comprehensible and entertaining way. Deepening information is provided at the media stations, which react to the visitors via sensors. The visitors can activate films and infographics about the region and the citizens of NRW, the state parliament and its building, the election and legislation process as well as of the delegates and the commitee week in special. They vistitors become interactors themselves! For guided groups, prepared presentations are provided. They are activated via iPad by the presenter. An extendable podium serves as platform.
Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The state parliament NRW is the first regional parliament in Germany showing its work to the public in a digitalized scenographic exhibition. A wide audience can be reached: up to 100.000 people a year – beneath them a lot of teenagers!
In guided tours, freely accessible or as a venue for events the new visitor centre is a form for encounters and information.
Since political processes are quite complex, the state parliament of NRW agreed to a scenographic exhibition concept, which uses media and interactive elements as well as films. By interacting, the visitors get a look behind the scenes in a visually and sensually appealing way. Through this approach, political processes become transparent and easily understandable. Interaction motivates interest and personal involvement.
