The Campaign

On behalf of the United Nations, international musicians turn the sounds icebergs produce while melting into songs – the Iceberg Songs. On our interactive website, we stage them in an innovative way. By creating an audiovisual experience with the icebergs, we move them from the arctic right into peoples’ minds and souls. With this inspired approach, we make it possible for people to access this huge topic, and to relate to the issue emotionally.

Creative Execution

Arctic scientists recorded the sounds of melting icebergs by using special underwater microphones. In collaboration with international musicians and artists, we turned these sounds into music. Every artist integrated the sound of the melting icebergs individually und gave his song a very personal sound design. Like this, we collected a wide range of different genres – from electronic music to classic. On our interactive website, icebergsongs.com, we merged the songs with moving 360° images in dramatic, dark tonality. Thanks to innovative WebGL technology, users get the impression of moving among icebergs while they listen to them, and gain a first hand feeling of what is happening in the far away arctic.
