Brief Explanation
This is Aldi discount store’s parody of the most eagerly awaited Christmas TV campaign in the UK – The John Lewis Stores commercial.
In the original, a little girl sees a lonely old man on the moon through her telescope. She sends him a gift via balloons – a John Lewis telescope, so he can see her too. Heartwarming, but sad.
Aldi did a version where the old man has two telescopes on the moon – a far cheaper one from Aldi, and a John Lewis one. We then flew in an old lady on balloons. A much better present. Everyone was happy.
