Brief Explanation
An abandoned casino is invaded by a multitude of mysterious white balloons. As they take over the building, the balloons start to bloat until they explode, releasing colourful clouds of shimmering glitter. They bring beauty and life to the abandoned place, bringing it back to life.
Results
Organizing the world´s biggest glitter party required weeks of preparation. Glitter is tiny, difficult to control and hard to clean up – taming 1,5 tons of it represented a huge challenge. To capture the explosions in camera we had to plan everything beforehand, testing shape, size, movement and consistency of the balloons and trying out explosions with different particles sizes to identify the material with the best ability to reflect light and float in the air. Most of the glitter used is biodegradable, as leaving the location and its surroundings without any trace has been a priority throughout the entire project; whenever shooting outside, we collected the flying glitter with huge sails. The location itself was enchanting, yet very demanding in terms of safety, as the building is an abandoned casino from 1910 with strongly damaged floors and ceilings and is inhabited by hundreds of pigeons.
