Brief Explanation
The Tretyakov Gallery used video content to announce an exhibition of Ivan Aivazovsky.
The target: making the artist topical for today’s audience, proving that Aivazovsky isn’t mundane or predictable.
We didn’t dwell on his person, but revealed what he means today: the sea vastness is groundbreaking for any contemporary, changing our impression of Aivazovsky.
We convey a new understanding of Aivazovsky’s craftsmanship, helping today’s snobbish audience experience the anguish and epic of the moment the 82-year-old painter passed away while working on a painting.

Results
The budget for the video production was limited (at 5,000 dollars), so we decided to apply to students of the Moscow Film School while completely aware of all the risks and assuming full responsibility for the project quality. Young experts from the filming crew managed to visualize a complex poetic concept and shoot a balanced video. The shooting took place in the memorial house of Konstantin Stanislavsky, a great artist and reformer of the Russian theatre. The whole production cycle (from director treatment to the final video editing) was done by young cinematographers under supervision from our creative head and the production studio.
In this way, we brought together the Moscow Film School and experts from the advertising industry. Sharing experience and subtleties of the working process allowed them to create a stunning project.
