The Campaign
One and a half million Facebook fans deserve a big thank you. And Audi Italia does it with a film that speaks the language of the web, using it with irony to build a story around the thumbs up metaphor, which is both the ‘like’ icon, but also the universal hand signal used by hitchhikers.
Creative Execution
A video devised to thank the million and a half fans of the Audi Italia Facebook page and build on the perfect fusion of two worlds, Mark Zuckerberg’s social network and the street. All thanks to an icon featured in both of them.
Because of its distinctive and unconventional language compared to Audi’s classic tenets, in a matter of weeks the video added almost 100,000 fans to the million and a half existing ones.
To celebrate such an important milestone, Audi Italia decided that for the first time the leading characters in its video wouldn’t be its cars, but its fans, thanking them for their “social affection” with the cynical and disdainful irony that only a top brand like Audi can afford to use.
