VO: Terms & Conditions Section 4: The challenge consists of standing on a ledge attached to the face of a billboard, a task which at first may appear simple, but which may soon become a physical ordeal comparable to running an ultra-marathon through the Atacama Desert whilst carrying three thin plastic shopping bags (the kind with handles that cut into your fingers) filled with an assortment of bricks and oddly-shaped building rubble. Section 6: Xbox is not liable for the mental deterioration of the Foolhardy Entrant throughout the duration of the challenge, including the soul-sapping sensation of utter helplessness that will flood every part of the Foolhardy Entrant’s mind from time to time, where the phrase “time to time” in this context should be taken to mean “constantly”. Section 8, subsection 3: Xbox assumes no responsibility for the vividness, duration and/or perplexing nature of the Foolhardy Entrant’s heat-induced hallucinations, including visions of pirouetting pink gorillas juggling giant pomegranates. Alternatively, nectarines. Section 9, subsection 3: Xbox can provide no relief for the fears of losing frostbitten fingers and toes, as well as the concern that said extremities might have to be replaced by means of complicated and protracted plastic surgery. Section 10, subsection 1: The Foolhardy Entrant may be subjected to varying types of rain, including but not limited to: spitting rain, soft soaking drizzle, showers, bucketing downpours, Amazonian deluges, rain that stings like ten thousand furious fire ants biting in unison, rain that’s turned brown from the incessant London smog, rain that drenches every follicle and fibre, hail masquerading as rain that whips and lashes at chins and cheeks, rain that weighs down every part of the body, and rain that lands maddeningly on the same spot on the head again and again and again and again and again. And then again. And then once more. And again. And again. Same spot again, and again and again and again. Section 10, subsection 5. The Foolhardy Entrant acknowledges that his or her shoes, socks and soul may slowly become saturated with water, a ceaseless, sodden purgatory of moist toes and disgusting squelches that will not end until the Foolhardy Entrant gives up or is declared the victor. Section 11, subsection 6: Repeated exposure to blustery winds may trigger the hearing of noises that are not in fact there, noises that stab and haunt, assaulting the Foolhardy Entrant’s eardrums with discordant sounds like an amateur orchestra obeying the whims of an armless conductor. Section 54: Night will, in all likelihood, not provide the blessed relief of sleep.
