The Campaign

We wanted to bring the experience of the Nissan X-Trail and the subsequent TVC to Virtual Reality. The idea was to allow users to travel through three epic scenes with Nissan’s new X-trail. Using the evolving TVC as a basis, the VR needed to include both scenes and characters that were found in the television commercial. During the virtual experience, users needed to be able to interact with the tech features of the car and learn about NISSAN’s Intelligent Technologies.

Creative Execution

Implementation The VR experience custom built for an installation supported by the Oculus headset Placement Made available across major NISSAN dealerships Brand relevance The 4D experience puts the user behind the wheel of the newly launched NISSAN X-TRAIL in an environment that was modelled on the TVC. We translated the linear narrative from the TVC to an immersive and interactive experience that perfectly highlighted the car’s technical features. Touch points VR installation Materials, style elements, design choices Thousands of manually modified 3D assets were used to fill the 360 angled environments with jungle, forest, desert and a sunset. We chose near photo realism quality using Clarisse and mimicked the not yet finished TVC in every aspect, including storyline, environment, and characters.
