Tell the jury about type(s) of animation used and summarise any relevant challenges or techniques.

One of the biggest challenges was to capture the look of a self-built little home, which we wanted to feel as organic and interesting as possible but still allow us the freedom that CGI, as a medium, brings to the table. To preserve this miniature-set look, the whole set was built as a real physical model, using items found in a Migros store. Everything was hand painted or glued together just like as you would for a stop-frame set. Once built, the entire set was separated into parts again and digitized by a 3D Scanner and photogrammetry to recreate the set as a digital model. In this environment, we placed our little hero Finn, which now, since everything around him was digital, perfectly integrated himself into the environment.

Write a short summary of what happens in the film

Have you ever wondered what makes the beeping sound of a cash register? It is a very little guy with a very big dream. No one has ever seen him before. In his cozy home office he happily scans every product. Until Christmas comes around. After seeing the delicious food, the Christmas decorations and the pure of joy of people something happens within him. His desire to celebrate Christmas awakens but something just isn’t right. Our little hero realizes how lonely he actually is. He needs to overcome his biggest fear and show himself.

Cultural/Context information for the jury

The film was made for the largest Swiss retailer Migros and calls for donations. This year Migros also launched a promotion with collectable figures. The film creates a dense emotional atmosphere while simultaneously introducing the characters. There is no dialogue and therefore no need for dubbing or subtitling, which is preferable for the Swiss market since it has four official languages.
