Cultural/Context information for the juryRumpelstiltskin, Mother Holle and Snow White are well-known fairy tale characters of the Brothers Grimm. The most famous fairy tale authors and publishers in europe. Nevertheless, it is possible that the figures are not known in very few parts of the world.
ScriptThe Spot “Mother Holle”. (SFX: Music the background.) (Man:)? Once upon a time there was Mother Holle. (Mother Holle: “Hello”) An elderly lady, who was famous for always letting it snow. But at some point nobody was interested in her anymore. Then the mood changed. (Mother Holle: “Hey, you! Do you need some?!?”) Back in those days, snow fell out of her pillows ... nowadays she has little packets with snow in her pockets. (Mother Holle: “This stuff will knock your socks off, bro!”) Once she got the help from two young girls ... today from old, shady thugs. (Sfx: street atmosphere, Thug: “Greetings from Mother Holle.” Sfx: Gunfire, Sfx: Man drops) And while Mother Holle used to punish unwelcome people with a shower of tar ... these days she is getting punished herself. Ice Skaters shows the dreamy and slightly surreal spectacle of a middle aged couple spinning and gliding on the polished wood floors of an elegant, high-ceilinged apartment in their socks. With the tagline 'Bring life into your living room' it is a beautifully crafted advert creating a warm, nostalgic mood for the brand, Ikea. It won Bronze at Eurobest in 2018 for production company CZAR Brussels. Director, Joe Vanhoutteghem and producer, Lander Engels talk to Eurobest about the experience of creating the work.
