Write a short summary of what happens in the film
Our video takes us into the privacy of an autocrat and shows, that they are only humans, too.
We see an old sleepless man, obviously worried by the news on TV and the happenings outside. Later we reveal that it’s the news that keep him awake and that he’s not the average old man, but an autocrat.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
As an international broadcaster reaching out to 249 million people worldwide weekly, DW realizes that the press plays a major role in leading the fight against autocrats and totalitarian regimes, where people and the press are silenced or censored. Our dedication for unbiased news and tools against censorship hopefully mean bad nights to autocrats.
Tell the jury about the choice of music track.
Pushing the desperation and sleeplessness of the autocrat in the video, we’ve found the right musical atmosphere and matching style within the Great American Songbook era. Adding the right lyrics and a memorable voice took the whole spot to a new level.
