Write a short summary of what happens in the film
The first few seconds show a content warning for sexual violence with an help offer including the phone number of the Women’s Emergency Hotline Munich for affected people. The video starts with a closeup on a woman’s mouth. She starts talking. She shares her personal experience with sexual violence. She tells her story of being raped in just a few sentences. The camera is focused on her mouth the whole time. The picture rotates slowly as an illustration builds above her mouth. The illustration accompanying her words, showing her naked body, reinforcing the viewer’s imagination of her story. As she stops talking, the illustration vanishes. The following text appears “Natalia was raped. Now she’s talking about it.” followed by the Women’s Emergency Hotline logo including the phone number for help.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
Germany is a free and enlightened country and also known for that. This makes it even more difficult to point out the true extent of sexual violence because it does not fit in with what people think of Germany. That is why the topic is hushed up. Through all social strata, right up to politics. Authorities are overburdened or not well trained in dealing with affected women. That is why women remain silent. Because they are often not believed when they open up about their experiences of sexual violence. Police officers play down the women's experiences. Too often, the blame is still placed on the women themselves. This is a catastrophe for every woman affected and often triggers further trauma.
