Write a short summary of what happens in the film

We follow a DHL courier making a delivery to James Bond. As he is about to hand over the package through the window of the waiting Aston Martin, villains in black 4x4s force 007 to flee. Moments later the courier receives an updated delivery address, returns to his van and heads off to the new destination. From the POV of the calm, knowledgeable DHL driver, as he makes his efficient and timely way to the delivery point, we observe the chaos of the car chase unfolding all around him. Naturally the courier arrives moments before Bond. In a beautifully executed, precision piece of driving, Bond skids to a halt beside the DHL guy perfectly positioned so the courier’s outstretched arm, package in hand, enters the open passenger window. A perfect delivery. “Excellent timing Mr. Bond”, the courier quips before the DB5 screeches away once again, villains in hot pursuit.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

DHL are the Official Logistics Partner of the latest Bond movie - No Time To Die. Delivering vital film equipment, props (and even a couple of actors), to film locations around the world. On a time critical movie schedule it’s essential that everything arrives on set, on time, ready for shooting. Any delays are costly. DHL has 15 years experience working on all five Daniel Craig films. For the launch of No Time to Die, DHL wanted to highlight their successful partnership with EON Productions, through a global campaign, including this B2B TVC. Precision and timeliness were the key narrative points for an audience of logistics managers, CEOs and Bond fans alike, in this homage to the world of Bond movies.

Tell the jury about the production design / art direction. You may wish to comment on choices, challenges or effects.

We knew the overall look and feel for the commercial would always be held up against the film we were promoting; No Time To Die - Bond fans are a tough audience. For this reason, every choice we made was super important: Ensuring we had an actual Aston Martin DB5 (this one featured in the Matera scenes of the film). That the lighting choices reflected the Bond universe. The commercial is ‘set’ in Shanghai, (China is a key market for DHL), but the shoot location was Bangkok, so building styles had to be considered, styled, propped, along with authentic cast and wardrobe, down to the smallest detail. This had to be a convincing representation of Shanghai. Finally, we had to find the sweet spot where the world of DHL could, literally, collide with the Bond world. It was important to remind ourselves that we’re making an ad for a client.
