Cultural / Context information for the jury

The Hyundai NEXO is powered using the latest hydrogen fuel cell technology, differentiating it from other modes of sustainable mobility such as electric and hybrid vehicles. The NEXO has no tailpipe emissions, except for the purified air and water it expels.

Write a short summary of the ambient work.

Hyundai’s NEXO has a hydrogen fuel cell and emits nothing but air and water, making it one of the cleanest cars on the market. To bring this innovation to life, we created a one-of-a-kind model that blows bubbles as it drives. Alongside Berlin creative studio, Neulant van Exel, we tested, designed and 3D printed a custom bubble machine that attached to the NEXO’s tailpipes and was powered by the fuel cell and air released from the car. The bubble mixture also contained tiny, native wildflower seeds – turning the bubble car into a guerrilla gardening car, too. The car was released onto the streets of Berlin where we drove around to the amazement of onlookers. The stunt was filmed and translated into multiple assets for Hyundai’s global digital platforms, where we could reach the world with Hyundai’s sustainable message and people could enjoy the simple joy of a bubble-blowing car.
