Cultural / Context information for the jury

Distraction caused by smartphones has replaced drinking and driving as the most frequent cause of accidents in Switzerland. Particularly affected are 16- to 24-year-olds who have grown up with cell phones but are now making their entry into road traffic. On foot, on bike and, of course, in cars. This target group needs to be sensitized and made aware of the dangerous situations that can be avoided by simply leaving your cell phone in your pocket whilst on the road. To achieve this, we adapted the popular filter effect visuals from socials apps and created augmented portraits, but with a powerful twist. The facial expression is pure sadness, which creates strong disbalance in the perception of the spectator as they are used to see happy faces in this context.
