Write a short summary of what happens in the radio or audio work.
In 2020 Sennheiser – famous for producing both state-of-the-art microphones and headphones - celebrated their 75th anniversary. Time, to remind of some outstanding moments in music history and how to enjoy them best.
We decided to do so simply through the power of words. The result was a series of radio ads, that tell the stories of great songs, bring them to life - and point out all those details, that one can hear with a Sennheiser headphone.
Translation. Provide a full English translation of any audio.
“O’er the ramparts we watched...”
When he got to that fourth line of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the skinny man in the tasseled shirt held the note a little bit too long, applied a little more pressure on the tremolo bar of his white Stratocaster, and sent the pitch slowly downwards, imitating the sound of an air-raid siren.
America’s national anthem celebrates the heroism of the soldiers in the war of 1812. But when Jimi Hendrix performed it at Woodstock, he turned it into an outcry against the Vietnam war.
His guitar shaped the lyrics into sound: bombs bursting in the air, rockets lighting up the night.
And its rumblings and wailing feedbacks added those images of war that didn’t make it into the anthem:
machine gun bursts, the rattling of tank treads, and the screams of pain – an aural expression of the horrors of war, and one of the defining moments of a whole generation.
So, discover what you’ve never heard before.
And listen to Jimi Hendrix’ Woodstock version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” as if for the very first time.
Because great moments deserve great sound. Sennheiser.
For over 75 years.
