The Campaign

We discovered that when meeting people at Cannes Lions, everyone first looks at your Festival Badge. But except for your name and a barcode, it doesn’t have any useful info on it.

Creative Execution

We made a free, easy to use Photoshop template people could download and upload via our website (portfoliobadge.com). We would print the badge and allow them to pick up their personal Portfolio Badge in Cannes, at the festival. It seamlessly attached to the back of the Cannes Lions Badge. And could display your best creative work to thousands creative directors in one glance.

With zero budget we generated approx. 150k of relevant media attention for Adobe Portfolio, with features in leading advertising and design magazines ADWEEK and DESIGN TAXI. We helped over a hundred young creatives to get meetings with leading agencies and creative companies like Droga 5, RG/A, Google Zoo and others. And features in ADWEEK magazine. Adobe is continuing the Portfolio Badge at other creative festivals around the world.

We belive the message should seamlessly fit the medium. We beleive this idea takes a medium (a festival badge) that was used in a wrong way and turned it around. We added massive value to an object that was previously ignored and in some cases even considered an annoyance to people.

Insights, Strategy and the Idea

Adobe always tries to enable their users instead of advertising to them. And so that is what we did here as well. We also targeted young talent specifically, as they are the ones who need to get themselves in front of the creative directors in Cannes. We levered different creative networks and groups. Like YoungDogs Worldwide, ADC, Wandebrief and others to share the idea.
