Write a short summary of what happens in the film
The beautifully crafted black and white spot is an allegoric representation of the never-ending quest for Instagrammable moments at the cost of genuinely meaningful interactions. It features influential characters being chased across town by hordes of their "followers" before finding their actual real life friends in the real world.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
The film offers a playful take on social media and its intrusion into our lives.
Tell the jury about the creation of the original music track.
From our early conversations with the director and the agency it was established that a big classical piece of music could work really well with the picture. The main challenges with this approach were maintaining the humour of the spot and structuring such a complicated piece so it hit all of the main beats of the film. We aimed to create a piece that reflected the cat-and-mouse chase of the visuals and that maintained a nice ebb and flow throughout while adding the right amount of playfulness and irreverence.
In order to achieve the sound the composer immersed himself in 19th century Italian operas and the era’s classical composers and set out to create something that sounded authentic to that particular style with all of its musical complexities.
