Write a short summary of what happens in the film

The film follows a family year after year as they celebrate Christmas. The father has bought some ugly Christmas sweaters and every year he brings them out for his family to wear. As time goes by the children grow up, and so does their resistance against the sweaters. In the end, when the father is gone, they finally realize that the sweaters are actually the one thing they associate with Christmas. And so the tradition lives on.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

Marzipan in Norway is strongly linked with Christmas. For over a century, Nidar has has been known for their marizan pigs, only sold during Christmas. The marzipan pig is often given away as a gift, or awarded to those who can find the almond in the Christmas porridge (another Norwegian Christmas tradition).

Tell the jury about type(s) of animation used and summarise any relevant challenges or techniques.

The whole film is made in 3D, but we wanted to give our universe a look and feel of something tangible and handmade, to enhance the overall Christmas feel. Our characters had to be someone the viewer could related to, but at the same time we wanted them to stand out. We ended up with characters based on humans, but with a handmade puppeteer feeling.
