Cultural / Context information for the jury
Cyberbullying is a huge problem. A recent study has suggested that bullied teenagers are three times more likely to commit suicide. In Europe – where cyberbullying is punishable by imprisonment – the situation is severe: victims are still discredited, or afraid to report it. But bullies are free to use their smartphones as a weapon to spread hatred, especially on WhatsApp, which is a popular platform for youngsters. Unfortunately, WhatsApp is a safe haven for bullies to act.
We created www.termsagainstbullying.com, a website that allowed victims to anonymously report the aggressors number to his mobile provider - based on the fact that every mobile provider has an anti-violence clause in their "Terms & Condition" which says that anyone using the service for bullying will, by law, have their contract cancelled.
This poster campaign was created to make University Student's attention to our website, and also showing different types of cyberbullying.
Tell the jury about the art direction.
Our aim was to give back the emotional state of the victim of cyberbullying; so that's why we combined a fairy-tale like visual world with an underlying horror-feel and sinister atmosphere. This supposed to suggest the hidden threat of a communication platform, that basically was created making human connections – but turned into emotional despair and alienation.
