Cultural / Context information for the jury
The job of courier in Moscow is generally despised by the society. Locals would say that this job is for lazy, senseless, annoying immigrants from developing countries of Middle Asia. That is why it was very important to mark their input into our lives, especially during the lockdown and to place them among those who supported us everyday. We hope that this monument will be the first step in making couriers respected.
Self-isolation — is the most common name for the lockdown in Russia
Write a short summary of the ambient work.
During the pandemic, couriers were connectors between our homes and the external world. We decided that it was important to show the hard work of those who kept on delivering orders making it possible for many people to survive lockdown all over the country. Together with 5 local delivery services we put up a monument to those who made the lockdown possible — the first ever monument to the courier. This monument is our “thank you” to all delivery service workers. It’s made of metal and concrete, the materials traditionally associated with urban jungle. The project was highly appreciated in media and on TV. We have received more than 450 publications in media, 80 560 892 impressions in first week in 21 country all over the world.
