Cultural / Context information for the jury
Sensitive teeth is a problem experienced by many people - according to research, sooner or later it affects almost every second person and turns eating into a torture.
We felt that the idea of showing food as medieval torturing instruments requires a certain technique. And our choice fell on Sgraffito, (Italian: “scratched”) - a form of direct engraving which consists of putting down a preliminary surface, covering it with another, and then scratching the superficial layer away. We commissioned a well-known Italian artist Rocco Lombardi, who specializes in this technique, for this task. This led to visually rich hand-made illustrations and created distinctive look of the ads.
