Write a short summary of what happens in the radio or audio work.
We created unique audio track - collaboration between contemporary music producers and cognitive scientists. It uses a special frequency (binaural beat) that enabled us to create a scientifically-proven music track that improves attention in healthy people. The 16Hz project not only rises the awareness and the money for people with attention disorders, but also improves the quality of life of the donors.
Translation. Provide a full English translation of any audio.
The audio track has no vocals, or spoken language since this would interrupt the effect of the binaural beats and the track would no longer be able to improve attention.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
The music producers are the top electronic music producers in Slovakia. The track connected them in one project for the very first time.
Please outline the innovative elements of the work
We used binaural beats - special frequencies that are able to alter brainwave oscillations and modify our brain activity. Their influence on different brain states (e.g. relaxation) have been scientifically proven before. However, no study was able to adjust the frequencies to find significantly positive effect on concentration. We wanted to create an audio track to improve attention so we collaborated with cognitive neuroscientists from the Slovak Academy of Sciences and created an experiment. We measured the performance of participants that listened to our track and compared it with a control group. We also measured the change of their brainwaves with EEG. The experiment was successful and we found the positive effect even when the binaural beat frequency was covered with electronic music. This allowed us to collaborate with music producers and create the first scientifically proven binaural beat track with contemporary electronic music that improves attention in healthy people.
