The Campaign

ANICOLS is the association of Spanish sign language development and they wanted to make some noise about sign language. There are translators for every language in the world, even gujarati, however there aren’t sign language translators. That’s why we created SIGNSLATOR, the first Spanish sign language translator. A communication tool for both hearing and deaf people can communicate.

Results

500 million people share the second most spoken language in the world, Spanish. But millions of them are deaf and they use sign language. We created SIGNSLATOR, the first spanish sign language translator, for both hearing and deaf people can communicate and bring down barriers between them. We shot 12, 000 movie clips, each per word or sign and then programmed them with the Spanish language. We developed a microsite and an app with a real interpreter who could translate every phrase from Spanish to sign language.

To release SIGNSLATOR, we made a very special banner in different digital media. Deaf people have great difficulty understanding what they read, that's why we created the first banner that translated headlines into sign language. Besides, more than 300 different online media spread the word of the first Spanish sign language translator.

Signslator was news in more than 300 online media. The app was downloaded more than 5, 000 times on smartphones. It was shared thousands of times on the social networks, going viral on Twitter under its own hashtag. And what is more significant: Signslator is already been used in schools as a means of teaching the Spanish sign language.
