Brief Explanation
A burst, light fashes, stardusts, black sun, the Earth surface swept by interstellar winds, a man stretching himself to break his rocky cradle. “I am a giant” starts an enigmatic voice.
Here are the first images of an epic tale where the volcano spirit and power majestically revives.
From the depths of the earth, an intriguing being talks about his birth, about his life, about Life in general. As he’s indeed the only one who witnessed the origin of Life. He’s immortal.
The story is a reflection of the character: monumental, mysterious, powerful. This film embodies Volvic’s comes back among the Big Brands and supports Volvic’s new visual identity launch.
With this tale, the idea was to assert the spirit and power of the volcano and remind us that Volvic mineral water is its treasure
Be prepared, the giant is coming.
Creative Execution
The first difficulty was to find the right destination that could offer us all the locations that was needed to achieve the project. Iceland was chosen for all the incredebly and unusual stunning landscapes it has to offer. We all new that the time allowed for the post production was going to be a problem as we had only 5 weeks to achieve it.
As soon as the shooting board was planned, the post production team started to work on the sequences that were going to be full CGI, while the production team was prepping the shoot : Casting from all over Europe, including 2 professionals dancers, one profesional fighter, a lot of horses riders, etc…Costumes came from Madrid, Paris and London. All costumes were gathered upon a very precise and historcaly accurate brief.Once in Iceland, we had to face 4 days of rain out of 5 shooting days. Among all the ressources we used, we had 25 horses, 50 persons working on SFX for the fire and smoke, we had 2 days in studio, 3 different sets, working on textures that helped create the big bang sequence and others : smoke, liquids, dust, paint...
We shot 2 days with an helicopter, to shoot plates for all the sequences that required it : creation of earth, volcano, boy, dinosaurs, etc…Coming back in Paris with more than 72hours of footages, we then started our heavy but yet very short process of post production, for 5 weeks, to finally deliver this version.
