Brief Explanation

Before the goals, before the glory, there is a game. "The Game Before The Game" shares the pre-game rituals of football (soccer) players, fans and celebrities around the world, as they silence all doubts, distractions and fears in their preparation for victory. Every ritual from every player and nation is completely authentic, as is the role that Beats headphones have come to play in each athlete's preparation for the game. The film stars some of the world's greatest footballers – Neymar Jr., Goetze, Sturridge, Fabregas, Suarez, Chicarito, Van Persie, Schweinsteiger, Altidore, Sagna, Matuidi – and features their authentic pre-game rituals. It also includes some of the world's biggest celebrity football fans: LeBron James, Serena Williams, Rio Ferdinand, and Thierry Henry.

Creative Execution

The casting process for The Game Before The Game was conducted in two stages. Stage One: Celebrities A long list of cultural influencers and thought leaders was created through a collaboration between us and Beats cultural network. Those who scored highly on both target market relevance and thought leadership where then contacted and persuaded to appear in the film. Stage Two: Normal People Local talent for each marketplace was sourced using local casting agents. Our creatives then reviewed the casting and selected appropriate talent based on physical appearance to appear at the live casting session for further vetting. At the live casting, talent was then recorded visually and auditorially and selected based on their performance and their cultural fit. Selected talent was then asked to do a read through of all dialogue and after a number of rounds the shortlist was whittled down to those who would appear in the final piece.
