Brief Explanation
The film follows electro-indie band Solomon Grey on a trip down the West-Coast of Ireland – a country famed for its musical heritage.
They took a camper van converted into a studio on a 2500km drive down the Wild Atlantic Way, writing a soundtrack to the road as they went. On their journey they met musicians, farmers, boat captains and storytellers and sampled all kinds of sounds – horses galloping, bird calls off cliff tops, echoes in caves 80 metres underground, a choir in an ancient fort, the acoustics of monasteries, the sounds of the ocean itself with a microphone strapped to a surfboard and many more. All these went into the composition of a soundtrack to the drive. This is the subject of the film.
Creative Execution
The music in the film is 100% percent original; certain lyrics were taken from old Gaelic poems and incorporated within the tracks, others were inspired by the landscape and sung by the band.
The composition is the subject of the film; all music was written and composed during filming. It was written by the band Solomon Grey and features recordings and samples made while travelling down the West-Coast of Ireland.
