Brief Explanation

The challenge was to create a distinct and international name, which was clearly linked to the shift in paradigm before and after November 1st and and dynamic visual identity that tapped into the gravity and integrity of the financial world while setting new industry standards.

The Brief

Following a new EU directive set in November 2011 allowing greater transparency in the exchange rates usually handled by banks, November First set out to become a new financial player on the international market taking advantage of this opportunity. Offering international payments and transfers based on transparent currency exchange rates, November First allows businesses around Europe to save money and time on all their international transfers and payments. Being a new start-up company, our task was to create a company name as well as a corporate and product identity to promote this unconventional initiative in a highly conservative industry.

How the final design was conceived

The name refers to the actual date of the EU directive while the corporate identity delivers the client’s high ambitions for this new way of transferring currency. The customised typeface and wave-like graphic underline the ongoing market dynamics. The changing colours within the wave refer to bank notes converted into a digital flow, representing the global aspect of international transfers.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

With the approval of the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority, November First now has a solid position in the market. The product has been recognized by parts of the financial world, despite industry lobby activities.
