Brief Explanation

Our idea was to hand build a real, better world out of recycled ING materials, rig it with electric motors, and film it as it moved in front of the camera. Every design and illustration decision was based on the available materials and took into account these technical limitations. All elements were made from real, used, office materials and textures and they had to move and interact flawlessly. Each motor would get a start and end position and after the settings had been uploaded to the engines, the camera would roll and all elements would go through their respective motions.

The Brief

ING Netherlands supports many sustainable and educational projects around the world. Their goal is to build a better world for all children. We were asked to tell this story in a compelling way.

How the final design was conceived

After developing an illustration style for the characters and surroundings, we hand drew a 60-foot storyboard for the production in which we plotted all the elements and their movements. Then, we turned this into a moving storyboard and animatic that was used as the blueprint for the shoot.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

The goal of this online film was to make Dutch people aware that ING Netherlands is taking its social responsibility serious by supporting educational projects. We feel the illustrations and execution give this project the friendly and ambitious look and feel it needed. So far, the film got over 300.000 views on ING Netherland’s YouTube channel.
