Brief Explanation
Our objective was to create awareness - but in a manner suiting the man and his work.
The Brief
Our brief was to create engagement and information regarding a small private view at the archive of Stanley Kubrick. The event was to coincide with the UK release date of the acclaimed director’s first film (Fear & Desire). Attendees were largely from the creative industries, selected for their passion, rigour or other qualities possessed by Kubrick himself.
How the final design was conceived
The poster deliberately lacked any words, to maintain a sense of mystery and anticipation. Referencing both the black obelisk and the Space Station in Kubrick's epic '2001: a Space Odyssey', the poster was aimed to intrigue and unsettle the viewer - like the work of Kubrick himself.
Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The response was very positive. There was full attendance at the event, as well as a lot of suitable intrigue prior to the event. The poster is now part of the archive at the request of the curator.
