Brief Explanation
The challenge was to stay close to the former strong and successful corporate design of MMK, that was created by Surface in 2010.
The Brief
The visual language of the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main, one of the world’s most significant museums of contemporary art, needed to be completely redesigned for the opening of a new location and reorganization of its two existing houses.
How the final design was conceived
All typographical interventions for these applications have been developed by Surface. A numerical system with 1, 2, and 3 which works both horizontally and vertically, was developed to distinguish the three houses. Making it possible to detect the positioning and corresponding logo efficiently, serving as a form of navigation within the city.
Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The addition of „Now“ and „We are three“ in new language of the digital and printed campaigns, emphasized the expansion of the museum. A specific dramaturgy accompanied the launch of the announcement and opening, which continues into 2015 and leads to a lot of attendance.
