Creative Execution
We turned this match with no audio or visual recording into a digital museum by using HTML5. The only two surviving legends, sat across from our cameras and told us the match story. We scoured over all the press items of that time and curated all the match coverage. To make the setting as authentic as possible we recreated the match atmosphere using live mannequins as human statues.
We made the younger fans know about this match of historical importance. Doing so, we made a cultural mark on the collective memory of Turkish people.
In 1949, Turkey earned the chance to compete in the World Cup for the first time in its history when they defeated Syria by 7-0. Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties it couldn’t follow through. This was a match to remember, but it had no audio/video recording. We wanted to make younger soccer fans know about this important bit of Turkish football history.
