The Brief

Bureau B is an independent music label from Germany. Very experimental. Very unknown. They want to increase their recognition as an avant-garde label in Germany to a broader audience of music enthusiasts.

Describe how the promotion developed from concept to implementation

Bureau B is the first label worldwide turning the crowd's dance moves into music. At a label night, blank/silent records were taped on the dance floor. The audience danced on them. After the concert, the records were scratched and dirty. Bureau B artists recomposed the sound of the scratches into a one of a kind compilation lp. Also the sleeve design, as well as a set of promotion material were made in the same way. Bureau B did not only produce a record for sail, but also a promotional item to strengthened their experimental credibility and fascinates enthusiasts all over.

Describe the success of the promotion with both client and consumer including some quantifiable results

Within three days Bureau B sold out all records and financed the entire production of the campaign. But more importantly Bootleg got the broader recognition and strengthened their image as the number one German music label for experimental and innovative sound. Furthermore the idea was picked up by many music blogs, magazines and exhibitions, worldwide. And all of that with 0 $ expenses.

Explain why the method of promotion was most relevant to the product or service

Bureau B is one of the leading experts in the field of avant-garde music. Nothing proofs that better than the production of a record that does not only shine through its sound but also through it's innovative and one of a kind way it was done. Bureau B involved the existing fan base in order to fascinate new targets groups.
