The Brief

There are lots of translators for every language. However, there aren’t online tools to learn Spanish sign language because of its own grammar, facial gestures etc. That’s the reason we developed a video-based online translator. Our resources were limited. Two developers worked for 750 hours to create a website and a mobile app and they keep updating both of them with new signs, spelling tools and other improvements.

This technology has been developed to help people’s communication with each other, no matter you are deaf or not. 12, 000 movie takes were shot, one per each word or sign. Then, the developers had to program a linguistic engine to relate each sign video with its own word and apply it on signslator.com and the smartphone app. There aren’t sign language translators with a real interpreter and real deaf language grammar. The only tools we found spelled every word with a CGI avatar.

Our goal is to spread Spanish sign language and to help hearing people that there are lots of people who use a different way of communication. This tools can be used as online learning platforms, that’s why we keep improving Signslator.
