Brief Explanation
Under the claim “Welcome Back”, a mature man is found to be in search of something very existential: his courage – manifested in his “balls”. Neither his wife nor his son has seen them. After desperately searching the whole house, he finds what he’s been missing in his new car outside the door.
The casting followed the strict goal of authenticity. The protagonist was envisioned as being essentially normal, just like you or I. He has an ego, insecurities and subconscious fears – fallible and imperfect. A man deeply concerned about his masculinity as he hits his 50s – but also lovable and charming. In specifying his personality it followed that he would need a loving wife and a bored teenage son – not only matching him perfectly but bearing witness to his crisis and desperate search.
