Brief Explanation
On the 13th April 2017 Jorden Oldham was the Best Man at his best friend’s wedding. However, his speech went wrong. Badly wrong. He froze and was eventually forced to ask an usher to read out his speech for him.
As part of their new 'Confidence' content series, Jorden was tracked down by Volkswagen. We put him behind the wheel of a new Tiguan, reunited him with the disgruntled bride and groom and gave him the opportunity to make a Second Speech.
Execution
The director was heavily involved in the casting, meeting all the contenders on skype. By the time he’d cast Jorden, Jen and Ross – they were Facebook friends. The director spent lots of time with all of them in the run up, both online and face to face. He met Jorden’s family and, built a strong friendship with him -always focusing on preparing him and building his confidence. Simultaneously the director gathered enough details from Jen and Ross, about their lives to help Jorden rewrite a totally belting wedding speech. The director insisted they had no contact before the shoot to make the emotions seem fresh. The director then dry ran the route and the kit lots of times so he knew he could rely on the technicals and get the whole thing in the first take.
