Brief Explanation
This film deals with a family conflict in an unpolished and genuine portrait of a father and a son, who go on a trip together in an attempt to reconnect after a lifetime of misunderstanding.
It's a human story about real people with real, unresolved issues, where the car - an old 1979 Volkswagen Beetle - acts as a third character and works as a symbol for the differences between the characters, but at the same time a motivated space for resolution.
The casting proces was tremendously tricky, because of the low budget. The film required A list actors with a tremendous range and diversity of emotions, who had years of experience in feature film. But we had a budget for "model actors". So what the casting director and director managed to achieve was no less than spectacular. In fact, they literally spent months trying to find the perfect protagonists and personally convince them that the film was worth their efforts - it was "more than a commercial"; it was a short film. The idea and script for the film came directly from the director, which also helped this process significantly (as to it's validity and credibility in terms of artistic considerations), and so in the end we ended up shooting a low budget short film with A-list actors, known from feature film and TV, in the lead roles (mom, dad, son).
