Brief Explanation
In cinematic imagery, the short film tells the story of a man who finds himself at the wheel of a Hyundai Tucson as if entirely by chance – and experiences the most amazing drive of his life. For instance, he encounters a sexy hitchhiker, gets stopped by the police, finds a golden revolver in the glove compartment, is chased by a manic clown – and ultimately drives up to a spooky house.
Results
Three major challenges were encountered during production of the Hyundai Tucson film, "The Switch". 1. Filming in Europe whilst making it look like California. 2. Only 3 days of principal photography for an extremely complex shoot for a 2-minute spot. 3. The weather: rainy conditions presenting the crew with serious problems to solve.
The Californian look was achieved using locations near Talamanca, Ibiza, with unwanted hills removed in post. The shoot was completed in just three days thanks to meticulous planning, a well-oiled production team and a director who knew exactly what he wanted. The bad weather was leveraged to lend the film even more atmosphere. To this end, for example, clouds were not airbrushed out and replaced with a blue sky. Indeed, clouds were even partly accentuated to enhance the dramatic look. All in all, a genuine short film was created which takes the viewer on an adventurous journey.
