The Campaign
Instead of creating a statue the author will be given – as it would be expected – we decided to send a library sample of the awarded book on a one-month journey through the Istrian libraries. Then we invited readers to write their comments, and thus designed the award…In such a way, those who made the book the most read one, actually created the award itself.
And since the festival is about exchanging and promoting used books, we wanted to create a – used award.
The Brief
The costs of printing the «golden» jacket: 342 eur for design and printing + 0,50 eur pen + budget for media coverage 0 EUR
Campaign Success
Instead of creating a statue the author will be given, a library sample of the awarded book was sent on a one-month journey through the Istrian libraries. The readers were invited in person to write their comments. Almost on each page they wrote an emotional message addressing the author. As a reward, the author received her own book back, but filled with comments and wrapped in a golden paper. At the same time the story about the festival is spread and the number of visitors grows. During the festival the award will be solemnly given to the author, and all the readers who created it will be part of the story.

A broad attendance at the awarding ceremony is guaranteed by the fact that all the people who wrote their comments, together with their loved ones, want to be part of the awarding ceremony and the Festival as well as, to get closer to the author.

Explain why the method of promotion was most relevant to the product or service
It is an award for the most read local author in the region, which is given at the Festival of used books. Thanks to this work, the community is activated and the people who made the book the most read one - take part in the creation of the award itself. In addition, since it is a festival of used books, it is logical that the award is - used. The work supports the promotion of the Festival of used books Booktiga, of the City Library Pore? as the organizer, and ultimately it promotes the authors and the reading itself.
By including the library members in the creation of the award, not only the readers of the award-winning book are motivated, but also all the other library members, as well as potential new members as the library presents itself as a friendly, warm environment, and reading as an activity that promotes friendship and joy. At the same time, a story that is spreading around creating this unusual award, further promotes the upcoming Festival of used books during which the author will solemnly be given the book in front of the audience. The costs are almost non-existent. It is also a significant motivation for writers themselves. Since, there are things that are more valuable to artist than money or statues. One of them is the awareness about how their work has changed the world…
