Brief Explanation
WasteBoards are unique hand-crafted skateboards made from melted recycled plastic bottle caps. The movie shows a magical world where the three main elements of WasteBoards come together: skateboarding, sustainability and design. The movie style is truly unconventional in the skateboard community emphasizing WasteBoards’ unique positioning in the market.
The WasteBoards world is shaped around a constantly moving maelstrom that loops. Watching this mesmerising movie over and over again uncovers several hidden story layers. For example the reference to WasteBoards biggest enemy: the plastic soup polluting the oceans, the circular character of WasteBoards - turning bottle caps into boards and into new boards - and so on.
Since only videos of maximum 60 seconds are presented as loops on Instagram, we made a 1-minute video that would seamlessly loop forever. Using social media’s regulations to our advantage.
